  1. This post contains the template that organizers of unofficial operations will be required to utilize when creating operations posts on our forums. Formatting (font type, size and color, use of bullet points, etc.) is up to the organizer, but unless a section is marked as OPTIONAL, all sections must appear in the operations post. The importance of utilizing this template lies primarily in setting expectations. During an official operation, there is an understanding that events will unfold and players will behave in accordance with our Unit Charter. Some examples of rules that are always in effect during official operations: Chain of command is observed at all times Intentional friendly fire is forbidden Negligent weapon discharges are not permitted Players do not operate independent of their team Disrespect of other players is not tolerated Because unofficial operations allow mission makers to experiment with new game types, players may come to an unofficial operation with differing expectations. That's why it's important for the organizer to state in their operations post what sort of experience they are trying to create and how they expect players to behave. Your post should consist of 11 items, as follows: Topic Title: The text of your topic title will start with [UNOF] tag, followed by a title of your choice, and ending with the date and time (in CST) of your unofficial operation. Topic Body: The body of your topic should start with the title, as outlined above. [OPTIONAL]Image: You can add a map, photo, or other image if it helps to add flavor, inform players, or evoke the mood of the operation. Briefing or Outline: This is the setup and background for your operation. Mission Tags: These are a new requirement that is intended to give players an "at-a-glance" understanding of what kind of mission the organizer is putting on. You can use as many tags as necessary, and the index of tags will likely grow. Tag Index: This is a quick reference of the different tag types. [OPTIONAL]Mission Statement: This is your chance to state how you expect the scenario to unfold. You can skip this if you want your unofficial operation to run the same as an official operation. Any changes or exceptions to normal operational procedure should be indicated here. You're not telling players what to do or how to do it, but instead providing guidance on the type of scenario and atmosphere you're trying to create. Objective Summary: A concise breakdown of mission parameters. [OPTIONAL]Additional Intelligence: Anything that isn't covered in the Briefing or Objectives section should be added here. This can include, but is not limited to, in-game start time, weather (if known), enemy disposition (if known), equipment restrictions or additions, radio frequencies, special rules or rules changes, and player roles. Mods: A list of required addons. If you don't require any additional addons, feel free to write "Standard BCT mods" [OPTIONAL]Response Form: If you require specific information from individual players, use this section to ask for their responses. If you do not utilize this section, player response should typically be, "R&U - attending". Feel free to copy and paste the following section into your unofficial operations post: [UNOF] Operation Name DDMMMYYYY @ HHMM CST Briefing Text. Mission Tags: Text Tag Index: Serious: players are expected to follow the chain of command and adhere to the same standards of behavior that they would during an official operation. Unless otherwise designated, the organizer of the unofficial operation is the commander and has final authority on how the mission shall be executed. Fun: at the discretion of the organizer of the unofficial operation, players are released from the obligations of a Serious mission, such as following orders, observing chain of command, and goofing around. The organizer is still the commander, however, and can, at any time, change what is and is not allowed. Roleplay: players are expected to remain in character at all times and do their best to avoid breaking immersion. PvP: the mission involves or is focused on player versus player activities or behaviors. Mission Statement: Text. Objectives: Bullet 1 Bullet 2 Bullet 3 Additional Intelligence: Bullet 1 Bullet 2 Bullet 3 Mods: Bullet 1 Bullet 2 Bullet 3 Response Form: Question 1 Question 2 Question 3 [UNOF] Operation Fan Fiction 11SEP2016 @ 1900 CST "They say it came from Bangkok." Briefing During a routine shakedown flight, an Imperial pilot is hit by a radiation wave and flung through a wormhole that transports him through time and space to a tiny Pacific island on the planet "Earth" during its Second World War. The Japanese forces reverse engineer his technology and create a fleet of TIE Fighters that are poised to change the course of the war. Only a small band of American heroes can stop this nightmare from becoming a reality by infiltrating the island of Okinawa and destroying the Imperial base (get it, Imperial? because it's Star Wars but Japan also had an Emperor?). Oh, and there are totally AT-AT walkers on the island because the Japanese found some blueprints in the TIE Fighter's glove compartment. Mission Tags: Fun, Roleplay Serious: players are expected to follow the chain of command and adhere to the same standards of behavior that they would during an official operation. Unless otherwise designated, the organizer of the unofficial operation is the commander and has final authority on how the mission shall be executed. Roleplay: players are expected to remain in character at all times and do their best to avoid breaking immersion. PvP: the mission involves or is focused on player versus player activities or behaviors. Mission Statement: The players are a rough and tough band of misfits who have all committed crimes during the war, but were pardoned in exchange for joining a squad that mostly undertakes suicide missions. This has engendered intense loyalty and built an unbreakable bond between you all, so no backstabbing! Objectives: Eliminate enemy forces on Okinawa Locate and destroy the Imperial plans Sabotage the production facility Additional Intelligence: Players are part of Easy Company, 12th Ranger Battalion Each player starts with a pistol, rifle or SMG, and three grenades. Any other gear can be chosen from the WAT modpack Roles that need to be filled: Team leader, Pilot, Saboteur, Sniper, Brick, Ladykiller, Pirate, Driver, Chef Mission start time is 0600. (in game) Weather forecast is for mostly clear skies. Mods: Standard BCT mods @173rd_WAT @datStarWarsMod @motherOfAllMaps Response Form: Will you be able to attend? What role would you like to play? What crime did your character commit to get him or her put onto the squad?
  2. Server information for direct-connecting to the fun-operation-server is below: IP 104.153.105.53 Port 2602 If the server is not up, you may message any person with access to restart servers, such as CPT M.Flas. Remember: Do not kill live people on our training base mission for any reason. To gain access to the fun-operation-server for uploading missions or mods, you may send a direct message to CPT M.Flas and you might receive a reply message including FTP access. We will no longer be obligated to upload missions to the server, though people may do it by choice. Whenever you re-upload a new mission, ensure that it is also renamed. You cannot replace mission-files without restarting the server, and we do not want to be constantly asked to restart the server. However, you can rename them and then, presumably, pick the correct one. People in S3 need not apply as the S3 FTP access should give full access to the fun-op-server as well. Please include in your message: Do you need access to upload missions to the fun-operation server?: Do you need access to change or upload mods the fun-operation server?: And, assuming your request is accepted, you will receive in return (the below is a sample so I can copy-paste it later):

  4. For the smooth functioning of any community, basic guidelines are needed. 5. For some time now, the Unit has allowed members to request that Game Servers be setup on the Unit's server for them to play on. In an effort to better manage and streamline the process of requesting a server be setup, we have created a form that can be completed to request a servers setup. This form messages command when a request is submitted and will allow us to review the game and its impact on the server. If the impact is found to not be detrimental to the server, we will let the requestor know that we are setting this up and will then follow up with them once it is setup. As noted on the form, Game Servers setup on this server must abide by a set of standardized rules and policies: Server will be stopped during official unit operations to avoid impacts to performance of those events. Server must not require purchase of a license to run. Server, if approved, will be opened to all Unit Members and Friends for use. Server will be available to Friends of Unit Members; however, the inviting Unit Member is responsible for the behavior of those users. Servers that allow Friends of Unit Members which are password protected in their setup cannot use any current passwords for Unit Arma Servers or Teamspeak Channels Any server not abiding by the above or which actively causes disruption to the unit or community will be brought offline pending further review. To request a server be setup, please complete the form found at https://forms.gle/Ysu5RHu7d54qQwbJA.
  6. Paratroopers, It has come to our attention that sometimes text-chat is a preferable alternative to voice-chat, especially when sharing pictures and stuff for comradery. Instead of splintering everyone into 100 different Discords and Kik chats, we decided it might just be best to officially fix our own officially-unofficial Discord. I know Kik is generally used for mobile communication, and that's okay, but when it's simply for group-chat, Discord can be much more effective without splintering people into cliques. If you are unaware, Discord is a service that allows people to, essentially, create chat-rooms with embedded links, emojis, and more. It also has voice-chat capability, similar to Teamspeak, but we have it disabled since we need Teamspeak anyways. Only the most core unit rules apply on the Discord, and it boils down to: don't hurt eachother. Don't be seriously rude to eachother, etc. This is supposed to be unofficial and fun. But all of the maturity rules and military courtesy do not apply there, so it can be an outlet for people to grow closer together. We will not, however, allow anything seriously unprofessional to overflow back into the professional side of the community. 20MAR2020 Update: Due to an incident, and the fact we do have some NSFW channels for the legal adults on the server, Discord now has separate tags for 18+ and not. Please let me know if you need the "Under 18" version when requesting permissions. I wouldn't make the distinction if it weren't such a legal minefield, so I did what needed to be done. If you forget to mention you're under 18, and I find out, you'll just have your tags replaced with the under-18 version. 18MAR2020 Update: To prevent fragmentation, other Discord servers may not be created for unit functions such as elements as staff positions, squads, etc. All unit members will be responsible for detecting dangerous behavior in other Discords they are a part of. "Dangerous behavior" shall be defined as anything that could harm the unit, including (but not limited to) mutiny, poaching, the forming of cliques, malice, etc. These are already otherwise violations of the unit's rules. Anyone in violation of these rules will be handled with zero tolerance and discharges can (and will) be overriden to dishonorable. Exceptions to these rules may be granted on a case-by-case-basis by Company Command staff and the policy may be amended at any time. Notification of amendments will be posted on the Discord and on the website. TL;DR: Here is the link to the Discord. You might have to message me to get yourself some permissions, or request it in the requesting channel. Hooah!
  7. Anonymous Complaint Form Click the link above to access the anonymous complaint forum. This form is to submit complaints, suggestions, etc to specific people in the unit anonymously. There is no way for us to track who is submitting these, so feel free to voice yourself. Access to responses is severely restricted. Very few people will see your submission, except those who need it. Please use this method to communicate your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Command is happy to receive all feedback through proper channels, whether anonymous or not. Note: Do not abuse this; this is a tool we try to use to better the unit, and trolling only hinders us.
